Ludwig Tavernier
Following research and teaching at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, the Bibliotheca Hertziana (Max Planck Institute) in Rome, the University of California, Santa Barbara, the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg, and the University of Graz, he served as a professor at Leipzig University before being appointed in 2000 to the recently established University of Koblenz-Landau.There, he headed the Institute of Art Studies at the Koblenz campus until his retirement in 2021 and was involved in the interdisciplinary Computer Visualistics degree program.
Since 2000, Ludwig Tavernier has been an elected member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts in Salzburg. Since 2026 he is Dean of the class Arts & Culture.
He is also a visiting professor at the University of Alba Iulia in Romania.
His research focuses on the interface between science, education, and the public in communicating research findings from the fields of art and cultural studies in schools, adult education, and cultural tourism. He advises tour operators and conducts continuing education events on topics related to intercultural education and intercultural skills.
His research trips have taken him throughout Europe, as well as to Central and West Asia, North Africa, and North and Central America.
