Ludwig Tavernier

Ludwig Tavernier conducted research and taught at Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, the Max Planck Institute in Rome, the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), the University of Salzburg, the University of Graz, and the University of Leipzig before being appointed to the newly founded University of Koblenz-Landau. There, he headed the Institute of Art Studies at the Koblenz campus until his retirement in 2021 and was involved in the interdisciplinary Computer Visualistics degree program. Since 2000, Ludwig Tavernier has been an elected member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts in Salzburg. He is also a visiting professor at the University of Alba Iulia. As an author and editor, he has published books and numerous scholarly articles.   

His research focuses on the interface between science, education, and the public in communicating research findings from the fields of art and cultural studies in schools, adult education, and cultural tourism. He advises tour operators and conducts continuing education events on topics related to intercultural education and intercultural skills. 

His research trips have taken him throughout Europe, as well as to Central and West Asia, North Africa, and North and Central America.
